This Saturday morning, while many were still sleeping, the North Belton 8th grade volleyball teams boarded the bus at 6:30 a.m. for Copperas Cove for the 2024 District Tournament. This tournament is the culminating event of the season, with regular season records seeding the teams into a final single elimination day. The NBMS 8A volleyball team met opponent Belton Middle at 8 a.m., and won 2-0. After the following games on the 8A court, the 8A team was slated to play Copperas Cove at 12 p.m.. It was a back and forth scrappy match down to the third set, where NBMS managed to pull away for the third set win. This advanced the 8A team to the championship match with the only other undefeated opponent, River Valley. This match was a test of teamwork and communication, as River Valley was very disciplined. However, the NBMS Broncos pulled together like never before and gave the crowd some exhilarating rallies ending in beautifully timed kills. The defense was the best that the team had demonstrated! The North Belton 8A volleyball team defeated River Valley 2-0 and claimed the 2024 District Tournament Championship title! Coach Yerigan is so proud of the growth that both teams have experienced this year! It has been an honor to coach both teams, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these talented volleyball players!
