The 8th grade B team traveled to Lake Belton High School on Thursday night to take on their sister school, Lake Belton Middle School. Nerves and excitement were in the air as both teams knew to expect a great match from each other. Aliah Castillo served several crucial points to shift the momentum in North’s favor. The team played well, and worked to keep the rhythm. North Belton took the first set by the score of 25-17. In the second set, Lake Belton was prepared to fight back. The point for point exchange was pretty steady, but the teamwork and determination of the North Belton Broncos propelled them to take the second set 25-23. Aliah Castillo was the player of the game for the North vs. Lake matchup for her contributions through serving, defense, and attacks. The NBMS Broncos were set to travel to Midway Middle School for their last match of the season on Monday night. The matches were played on Monday in order to prepare for the upcoming district tournament on Saturday. In spite of some hiccups in the rotations running smoothly, the Broncos were able to fight to win the first set 25-22. The relentless play of the Panthers and some communication errors cost the Broncos the second set, as they fell to Midway 16-25. The final set was an all-out fight to the finish, where the Broncos fought back to push to a 16-14 win, maintaining their undefeated record for the season! Na’Kehyria Glover-Landrum was chosen as the NBMS B team player of the game for stepping into a new role for her team with confidence, and playing her best defensive game of the season! The NBMS Broncos will travel to Copperas Cove for the district tournament on Saturday, October 26th. More information and game times will be shared soon.
