NBMS 8A VB DEFEATS S.C. LEE IN THRILLER 3
8th grade A experienced the most competitive match so far this year while on the road to S.C. Lee on Thursday night. The gym volume was off the charts, and the first set was a point for point battle to the end. The Broncos narrowly missed the opportunity to close out the first set, and fell 25-27. Sheer grit and determination were evident in the second set as the Broncos fought their way back into control. Passing improved, allowing setter Natalie Tucker to move the offense better. The Bronco hitters responded, with outstanding attacks coming from both middle and outside hitters. Add an incredible defensive hustle recovery from Aubrey Henderson, and the Broncos were primed to take the second set 28-26. The deciding set is only 15 points, and neither team was prepared to go down without a fight. However, the defensive dominant play of Olivia Dann and the fiery excitement of her teammates sparked a run for the Broncos. The Broncos battled their way to a 15-12 win. This win was sheer heart and teamwork in high pressure situations. We are so proud of the grit that the team displayed, and each and every teammate contributed to this win. The NBMS 8th grade A team player of the game for Thursday’s match is Natalie Tucker, who led the team in offense and fought through diversity to lead for her team. District play will resume Thursday, September 26th on the road to Bonham Middle School.
