The 8th grade A team Broncos’ match immediately followed the B team Broncos’ match. The worthy Travis opponent kept the A team off of their usual rhythm during the first set, causing atypical formation issuest. Communication lacked, and Coach Yerigan had to call two different time outs within the set to readjust the mindset of the play. The momentum started to pick up with the help of outstanding defensive net play from Kaleiliana Cress and Olivia Dann, who both recorded some amazing blocks.The Broncos narrowly won the first set 25-22. With increased focus and renewed confidence, the Broncos took control of the second set and showed more of what they are capable of. Azeley Johnson recorded 4 kills for the night, while Kaleiliana Cress recorded 3 kills for the night. The team tallied 16 total aces on serving for the evening. However, the extra work to make sets happen and highly influential play of Natalie Tucker earned her the honor of September 12th player of the game. The September 12 player of the game for outstanding team contribution both offensively and defensively was Azeley Johnson, for really putting effort forth to better the ball and make some very smartly placed hits as well as provide solid passing. Next Thursday, September 19th, the Broncos will travel to SC Lee, then have a Saturday, September 21st tournament opportunity at home as Belton ISD hosts the A & B team tournaments.
