NBMS 7A GIRLS BB OVER LBMS 40-17

The North Belton and Lake Belton Middle School girls basketball teams competed at Lake Belton High School in the Battle of the Broncos on Wednesday night. The Lake Belton High School gym was packed with fans ready to witness the showdown. North and Lake battled neck to neck in the start of the game, with Lake edging ahead in the first part of the game. However, North responded with fierce persistence and claimed the lead by three buckets at the end of the first quarter, with Olivia Dann and Kaleileana Cress sharing 12 points for North. The fight continued through the first half, and Kayleigh Jackson came alive on offense to score a huge momentum three point shot. North regrouped at halftime, and came out on fire in the second half. Teamwork was the name of the game as North passed the ball well, forcing Lake to defend multiple players. North continued to chip away at the lead, and ultimately pulled ahead to claim victory 40-17. Olivia Dann led the scoring with 19 points and was 100% from behind the free throw line. Kayleigh Jackson-10; Kaleileana Cress- 9; and Cadence Williams-2. Special congratulations to Kayleigh Jackson for being selected as this week’s NBMS 7A player of the game. Kayleigh excelled in her defensive efforts, and stopped Lake from several fast break attempts. She was a strong offensive threat, scoring double digits with two of those shots being three pointers. The NBMS girls will travel to Belton Middle School on Monday for their final regular season game. 7A will also compete in the district tournament on Saturday, February 17th.
